Andrew has been involved in the tensile fabric industry for almost all of his working life, starting out at Landrell Fabric Engineering in 1989 before being headhunted by Clyde Canvas in 1996 to head up their production facility. Initially tasked with processing 30,000 square metres of PTFE fabric in just three months for a major project, this seemingly impossible requirement was accomplished with time to spare and epitomised the type of resolute attitude that has been a constant feature of Andrew’s achievements ever since.
Recognising a market opportunity at the turn of the millennium for a dedicated contract fabric welding company, Andrew set up A J Tensile Fabrications Ltd (now A J Tensile Manufacturing Ltd) in May 2000 to service the tensile industry and provide manufacturing and finishing facilities to local businesses. The company soon gained a solid reputation as a rapid-responding and dependable partner, and developed excellent long-term relationships with a number of customers across the whole of the United Kingdom. Sustained growth over a number of years enabled the company to expand its dealings into overseas markets, and widen operations to include the design and manufacture of tensile structures and biogas holders around the world.
Andrew is not only the AJ in AJ Tensile, he is also our Managing Director with special responsibilities for the entire production division, employing a hands-on approach to our everyday operations. His industry knowledge and experience is second-to-none and he remains a highly-respected authority on every facet of tensile fabric production processing.
When not following his son Tyler’s burgeoning rugby career for Gloucester Under-18s and North England, Andrew occasionally still plays the game himself for Aretians RFC in Bristol, providing another outlet for the can-do attitude and unbridled enthusiasm that has served him well throughout his career.
