groupFour of us recently donned our penguin suits for a lavish charity bash at the splendid Tortworth Court Four Pillars Hotel in Wotton-under-Edge, organised by Nomenca Ltd as part of their committed fundraising work for WaterAid. The evening was an overwhelming success with fine dining, good company, interesting conversation and excellent networking opportunities.

Of far greater importance, however, were the many thousands of pounds raised for a very worthy cause: delivering safe water, sanitation and hygiene projects in twenty-six countries around the world. Thanks once again to Nomenca for the invitation and to Tortworth Court for hosting the event.

Mermaids in Rhyl

Our Tension Structures division recently completed this 18m x 8m triple conic entrance canopy for the Mermaids Café at the Marine Holiday Park in Rhyl, North Wales. Part of our service included undertaking all the necessary submissions regarding planning applications and building regulations on behalf of the client, and liaising directly with the local council to ensure the process ran smoothly. This free-standing canopy is part of our cost-effective standard range of pre-designed products, but for this project we re-engineered the columns to raise the canopy by 800mm so that it overlapped the edge of the existing café roof to provide complete rain shelter at the entrance. The installation was completed in just over three days during the off-season to minimise disruption to park visitors.

One from the archives here..! We recently found these photos in the bottom of a drawer and thought we’d give them an airing. In 2010 we sent a team to the USA to work with one of our American partners in Cincinnati, providing expertise and hands-on training while finishing and detailing a membrane structure that we had originally part-fabricated at our production facility back in Britain. It was a very intense but enjoyable few days, and it’s always interesting to see how things are done just that little bit differently on the other side of the pond. Whether we are working in the UK, mainland Europe or the rest of the world, we always do our very best to provide the highest level of service to all of our customers.

Our Biogas Systems division was approached to urgently replace a severely-damaged gasholder resulting from an electrical failure at a plant at Ilmajoki in the west of Finland. Some of the ancillary equipment such as air inflation fans and level detection equipment was still fit for purpose, but the replacement of the gasholder itself required immediate action.
